Everyday fixes, done properly
Most calls in a town like Rockford aren’t dramatic. An outlet that quit, a switch that buzzes, a bathroom fan that never worked, a light that needs to be a ceiling fan before summer. These jobs are small, but they are where shortcuts hide: a missing box, a backstabbed connection, aluminum and copper joined the wrong way. We fix the thing you called about and tell you if we see something else.
Utility and the river
The Maryville Electric Department’s service area includes Rockford. Low ground near the river and creeks can mean damp crawlspaces and basements. Wiring and equipment in damp areas needs the right protection, and water and electricity are never something to troubleshoot yourself.
Do you work in Rockford?
Yes. Rockford sits between Maryville and Knoxville, close to our Maryville base, and we take residential and small business work there.
One outlet stopped working. What should I check first?
Check for a tripped GFCI outlet nearby, often in a bathroom, kitchen, garage or outside, and press its reset button. Then check the panel for a tripped breaker. If neither brings it back, or the outlet is warm or discolored, leave it off and have an electrician find the cause.
Water got into my basement. Is the electrical safe?
Don’t walk into standing water if any electrical equipment or cords might be in it. If you can reach the main breaker from a dry spot, turn it off; if you can’t, stay out and call your utility. Have an electrician check any outlets, wiring or equipment that got wet before you turn things back on.
