Straight answers

If a fix is simple, we say so. If something is unsafe, we show you why. No upselling a panel you don’t need.

Work you don’t have to think about

Tight connections, the right box, the right breaker, clean runs. The kind of work that disappears into the wall and stays reliable.

Respect for your home

We show up when we say, protect floors, and leave the place the way we found it, minus the problem.

Local knowledge

Wiring for Blount County.

The foothills of the Smokies make for a particular mix of houses, weather and power companies.

Three utilities, one county

Depending on your address, your power comes through the Maryville Electric Department, the Alcoa Electric Department or Fort Loudoun Electric Cooperative, all TVA distributors. They own everything up to the meter. Everything after it is ours.

Old houses, new subdivisions

Older homes near downtown Maryville and in Alcoa’s company-town neighborhoods often have wiring added onto in pieces. Newer subdivisions want more lighting, fans, garage circuits and EV chargers.

Storms off the mountains

Spring and summer thunderstorms bring lightning and surges, and wooded lots bring limbs down on lines. That’s where surge protection and a safe generator hookup earn their keep.

Service area

Straight answers

Electrical questions, answered.

33 plain answers on tripping breakers, older panels, storms, generators, EV chargers and hiring a licensed electrician in Tennessee.

All 33 answers
What should I do if I smell burning near an outlet or the panel?

Turn off the breaker for that circuit, or the main breaker, if you can do it safely, then call an electrician. If there is smoke or fire, get everyone out and call 911.

Does whole-home surge protection actually work?

Yes, as one layer of protection. A surge protective device at the panel limits surges coming in from lightning and utility switching, protecting appliance and HVAC electronics. Pair it with good plug-in surge protectors for computers and TVs.

How do I know if my electrical panel needs to be replaced?

Common reasons are a panel brand with a known history of problems, signs of heat or corrosion, no room left for circuits, frequent nuisance tripping, or too little capacity for what you are adding (an EV charger, a heat pump, a shop).

Can a ceiling fan go where a light fixture is now?

Often, yes, as long as the box is replaced or braced with a fan-rated box. A standard light box isn’t made to hold a fan’s weight and wobble.

What does it take to install a Level 2 EV charger at home?

A dedicated 240-volt circuit sized to the charger, usually 40 to 60 amps, and enough capacity in your panel and service to carry it. An electrician will do a load calculation first.

Who licenses electricians in Tennessee?

The Tennessee Board for Licensing Contractors, part of the Department of Commerce & Insurance, issues electrical contractor licenses and the Limited Licensed Electrician (LLE) license. You can look up any license at verify.tn.gov.
